Hot or Not: Week 2

In a quick-hitter Hot or Not, my aim is to get to more players, but that means I'll give briefer analysis. But first off, here are some week one under-performers who you don't need to worry about. Start them without hesitation.

Don't Panic:
Vincent Jackson - Brandon Marshall had a solid game against New England. So will VJax.
Owen Daniels - Especially with Kevin Walter out, O.D. will get plenty of targets.
Chris Johnson - You wouldn't consider benching him anyway.
Frank Gore - The offense runs through Gore.
Peyton Hillis - Ditto for Hillis.
Percy Harvin - He's their best receiver. Despite a disappointing week one, it was clear that the Vikes are trying anything and everything to get Harvin the ball.
Jeremy Maclin - He may still be shaking off the rust, but he appeared healthy so stick with him.
Matt Schaub - He had a bad week one against Indy last year too. In week two, he threw for almost 500 yards and 3 TDs.

Hot

Ben Roethlisberger - You also don't need to panic about Big Ben. With the loss of Willie Colon, he will continue getting harassed all season long. Karma? Anyway, he's used to it and should shred the Seahawks secondary.

Rex Grossman, Fred Davis, and Santana Moss - The Cards have to travel east, and Rex Grossman should have another solid outing against a defense that is, in a word, weaksauce.

Matt Stafford - You know I love me some Stafford. This is the last week that he will be on the "Hot" list because he'll likely enter must-start, obvious territory soon.

Joe Flacco - Looked great last week. Should keep it up against the Titans.

Jacoby Jones - Without Kevin Walter, and with Vontae Davis on Andre Johnson, the perennial "sleeper" could finally wake up, at least for one game.

Robert Meachem - With Colston out and probably Lance Moore out, Meachem will be the number one target on the Saints. Need I say more? (Jimmy Graham is an obvious start too.)

Johnny Knox - On the other side of the ball, Roy Williams is not looking healthy, and the talented Knox should be Cutler's favorite target.

Plaxico Burress - I don't like Burress longterm, but this week against the Jags, he's a solid flex play.

James Starks - Last week, we didn't know who to recommend so we were hesitant with both Starks and Grant. Now we know that Starks should get more carries against a soft Carolina D.

Mike Tolbert - Like the Green Bay backfield, we got a little clarity in the Chargers' backfield. Mathews and Tolbert will get close to equal touches, but Tolbert will get those valuable goalline carries and a bunch of passes. He won't get 3 TDs, but he's a solid RB2 or 3.

Carnell Williams - Assuming SJax is out (which is not 100% yet), the Rams have full confidence in Williams' ability to carry the load. And Caddy can catch too. He's a solid workhorse option at the flex.

Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower - Like Stafford, this is the last week that we'll put these two here because they'll be no-brainers going forward.

Cedric Benson - Everyone (including us) hated on Benson but he's clearly the workhorse RB and flashed his talent last week. Denver is a nice matchup, so roll with Benson until it goes sour.

Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski - After the elite 6 TEs (Gates, Finley, Davis, Clark, Witten, and now Graham), I love these two as the 7th and 8th best TEs out there.

Not

Eli Manning - He's likely without Hakeem Nicks, faces an underrated Rams D, and has looked bad from Preseason Week 1 to Regular Season Week 1.

Cam Newton - The hot waiver wire add shouldn't be starting just yet. Green Bay will force him to make some rookie mistakes. Save him for another day.

Sam Bradford - He says he's doing just fine after the finger injury, but I'd hold off until he has a single good game. Especially against the G-Men and without Amendola and SJax.

Knowshon Moreno - He's banged up and unfortunately looks to be in a dreaded RBBC with McGahee.

Austin Collie - Kerry Collins isn't getting it done and it looks like Pierre Garcon will be used as the WR2, rendering Collie almost droppable if he has another stinker.

Mike Thomas - Whereas Revis rotated between Miles Austin and Dez Bryant on Sunday, the Jags have only one good WR, Mike Thomas. Revis will shut him down.

Jacoby Ford - This may be obvious, but wait until he shows you something.

DeAngelo Williams and Jon Stewart - They're in a timeshare, on a bad offense, going against a great defense. It's hard to bench someone you spent a high draft pick on, but hopefully there are better options on your bench.

Joe Addai - Yikes. He looked bad last week and was in a near 50-50 timeshare with rookie Delone Carter.

And the following guys are under-performers from week one who I am not confident will bounce-back. I can't sit them yet, but I consider them flex plays at best.

Do Panic:
Shonn Greene
LeGarrette Blount
Dwayne Bowe
Pierre Garcon
Ryan Grant
Mark Ingram
Pierre Thomas
BenJarvus Green-Ellis

Good luck in week two!
