Working The Waiver

Michael Crabtree (Owned in 42% of Yahoo Leagues)
We've mentioned him before, but he's still available in a majority of leagues, so snatch him up already! With Josh Morgan and Braylon Edwards out, Crabtree will be a target monster for a suddenly accurate Alex Smith. Crabtree hauled in 9 passes for 77 yards on 15 targets. We never said Smith could go deep, so Crabtree will be especially valuable in PPR leagues.

DeMarco Murray (10%)
Unfortunately, our boy Felix Jones suffered a high ankle sprain and is likely to miss 2-4 weeks. In his absence, Murray rushed for 32 yards on 10 carries, while his competition Tashard Choice ran for 14 yards on 5 carries. A small sample size, to be sure, but it looks like Murray is likely to get a majority of touches for the next few weeks. Murray gets some tasty matchups in the next 4 weeks against the Rams, Eagles, Seahawks, and Bills.

Maurice Morris (1%)
Jahvid Best suffered a concussion in the 4th quarter against the Niners. The severity is unknown at this point, but it's very possible Best misses time. Maurice Morris should be the primary back in his absence, with Keiland Williams helping out. Morris had 5 carries for 20 yards on Sunday. Morris would get a mixed bag of matchups coming up against the Falcons, Broncos, Bears, and Packers. The Lions are a passing team, which is why much of Best's value came from receiving yards. Morris also has nice hands so he should step in and fill that role nicely.

Fred Davis (43%)
Chris Cooley shattered a finger and is expected to miss the next six weeks. This certainly clears up the TE competition between Cooley and Fred Davis. Davis immediately stepped up with 6 catches for 95 yards. I'm not sure it matters whether Rex Grossman or John Beck is throwing the ball. Davis is leading all Redskins in receiving yards, despite poor showings in Weeks 3 and 4. With Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Vernon Davis, and Jermaine Gresham on byes this week, Fred Davis could prove to be the perfect pickup and plug this week. But his value ought to continue all season.

Greg Little (16%)
We talked up Little last week, and he responded, albeit in a modest way. Little was installed as the new starting X receiver during the bye, and then hauled in 6 passes for 72 yards. He should put up similar numbers going forward, making him a decent WR3 and a great PPR option.

Montario Hardesty (18%)
It will be hard to trade a disgruntled Peyton Hillis now that he's tweaked his hamstring. But whether he's traded or injured, there's an opportunity for Hardesty to step up. He ran for 35 yards on Sunday, and added 2 catches for 18 yards. He's only averaging 3.6 YPC, but he's certainly worth an add while we monitor Hillis.

Demaryius Thomas (1%)
Thomas is returning from an injury just in time to join a Brandon Lloyd-less receiving group. He's certainly got the talent to step in and be the number 2 target behind Eric Decker, but he's got to stay healthy. The Broncos' confidence in Thomas explains part of their willingness to part with Lloyd, so he's worth the speculative add.

Sam Bradford (47%)
Bradford has the talent, but he didn't have the receivers, until now. With Brandon Lloyd in the picture, Bradford would be a top add... except that he apparently has a high ankle sprain. Monitor his practice status this week, but he could finally realize his potential with the new receiver help. He passed for 321 yards on Sunday, so I'm excited to see what he can do with Lloyd on the field.

Danario Alexander (12%)
The Rams cut Mike Sims-Walker today, which means Alexander is the favorite to be the Rams WR2 opposite Brandon Lloyd going forward. Salas will likely stick in the slot, leaving Brandon Gibson as the competition for Alexander. He's been called the most talented receiver in this group (before Lloyd of course), so I'm adding Alexander in deeper leagues to see if he pans out.
