What I'm Watching - Week 2

Here are the updates on What I Was Watching last week...

1) Chicago's Offense
Chicago's offense delivered against Detroit. I was disappointed that Johnny Knox didn't establish himself as a breakout player, but I'm patient. Cutler and Forte were huge last week, so we'll see if Cutler, Forte, and Knox can keep it up against a tougher test in Dallas.

2) Detroit's Offense
It's too early to judge Detroit because of Stafford's injury, which may keep him out for 6 weeks. Nate Burleson did not do much. We'll see tomorrow how Shaun Hill effects the value of Burleson, Megatron, Jahvid Best, and Tony Scheffler.

3) The Henne-Marshall Connection
The Henne-Marshall connection looked great in Week 1! Marshall managed 8 catches in a very difficult matchup. In an easier matchup tomorrow against Minnesota, I expect big things from Brandon Marshall.

4) The Last Men Standing
Last week, I was excited to see how Jerome Harrison and Arian Foster would handle being the featured backs. Foster obviously blew up. Harrison on the other hand, is not even a featured back. The Cleveland backfield will be an interesting situation to monitor tomorrow.

5) The New QB In Town
Last week, I was interested in the new QBs. McNabb, Kolb, Campbell, and Anderson all disappointed for fantasy purposes. Kolb is injured, but looked mediocre in his limited action. The only guy I have much fantasy hope for is McNabb who should improve as he develops a rapport with Santana Moss and Chris Cooley.

6) The Tandems
No huge surprises in the carry splits on CAR, NYG, MIA, DAL, and KC. Check out our RB Situations tab above for more commentary. We'll continuously update that page after each week's action.

7) The New Guys
I predicted pretty good production from Ryan Mathews and Jahvid Best, given their situations. I think that will continue (though I like Mathews significantly more than Best). C.J. Spiller disappointed for those expecting him to run up and down the field like he did in college. Mike Williams (TB) and Dez Bryant did not light up scoreboards but I think they will both have great rookie seasons.

Tomorrow I'm most interested in watching:

1) Brandon Jackson
We've been pimping BJax all week. I blew my whole free agent budget on him in 2 leagues. He couldn't ask for an easier first matchup (vs. Buffalo), and I hope he can capitalize.

2) Michael Vick
Vick also has an easy matchup (in fact the easiest) against Detroit tomorrow. Depending on how well he plays, we'll see whether he challenges Kolb for the starting job once Kolb recovers.

3) The 49ers
Going into the season, most analysts thought the Niners had nowhere to go but up. All of their offseason moves seemed to strengthen the team, so they should improve on last year's decent season. But if they can't score one touchdown against the Saints on Monday, I would be seriously worried as an owner of Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and Michael Crabtree.
